For our second night of Dialogues musical experimentation we welcome three sets of performers from Sound lab Edinburgh - Marco Donnarumma, Intuitive Music (Shiori Usui, Nikki Moran, Owen Green, Sean Williams) and Hakemira (Lauren Sarah Hayes, Paul Keene, Christos Michalakos, Jules Rawlinson).

The Xth Sense (Marco Donnarumma) is a new and original, biophysical interactive system based on free, open source tools. It was recently awarded the first prize at the Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition, Georgia Tech as the “world’s most innovative new musical instrument”.

Hakemira are a power-improv quartet based in Edinburgh, sharing a diverse range of musical backgrounds and a love of all things cacophonous. In their arsenal will be live electronics, analogue synths, prepared Rhodes electric piano, augmented drum kit, laptops & controllers.

Sound lab Edinburgh involves computer scientists, acousticians, composers, sound designers, performers and sonic artists each of whom explore sound in the wider contexts of performance, technology, composition and design.

In addition a performative work by Skye Reynolds (Choreographer), Emma Snellgrove (Dancer), Jung In Jung (Sound Designer) and Matt Collings (Composer / Sound Artist) will be presented using game controllers. Skye and Emma will improvise to a generative soundscape with a Steam Punk thematic.
